A great way to promote speech development is to teach your baby animal sounds. This will help them to say words later on. There is no age too young to start this and actually they can still benefit from animal sounds well into their two’s. It’s not even just animal sounds that are helpful. Any kind of sound like the one a car makes, an airplane, or the beep beep of a horn.

.
This isn’t technically from us, it is from the grandparents but we had to return the one they bought because it just wouldn’t have fit so we went and picked this one out today. I love it! It is so cute, and I love that it is wood instead of plastic. It’s at amazon for $370 but we got it at toys r us for just $120.

New Feature – Mommy tip of the day

bigstockphoto home computing 1361307 199x300 New Feature Mommy tip of the dayThis week I am going to start a new feature called “Mommy tip of the day.” It will be something short and easy that you can do that day with your child. A lot of the tips will talk about your child’s brain development. The reason I think this is so important is because the first 3 years of your child’s life are crucial.
A baby is born with something like 100 billion brain cells. As soon as they enter this world those cells start making connections based on what they experience around them. A lot of the cells your child does not use by the age 3 they will lose. It is literally a “use it or lose it” scenario.
I hope you enjoy the mommy tips. I will try to post one every day until I run out. Then maybe I will put them into a calender that you can download.
