OH…MY…GOD! Have you seen this movie? I just watched it last night and cannot get over how delicious it was.
In my past life I would have had all the books read before the first movie came out but for the past year and a half all I have been able to read are snippets of parenting books whilst running after a toddler.
I had read a couple of reviews that highly recommended the movie so I was expecting it to be good but man was it good! I was immediately entranced with the scenery and the acting and was pleasantly surprised what a superb job Kristen Stewart (Bella) and Robert Pattinson (Edward) did.
Last week I had read a brief description of the movie in a magazine and it mentioned that Stephanie Meyer, the book’s author, was Mormon. So I was kind of interested to know what a Mormon was doing writing a book about Vampires. Of course if you are Mormon you can still write whatever you damn please but it just intrigued me is all.
So when the movie started my mind couldn’t help but try and figure out some hidden religious meaning to it. When Edward tells Bella that his family “is different, we learn to control our thirst” it hit me. A 17 year old vampire that refuses to suck the blood of a human, no matter how tempting, is a metaphor for teenagers to remain abstinent from sex! Right? I haven’t read anything to back this up but I am sure it is true. For people that have seen the movie or read the books do you think I’m right?
