randomtuesday Random Tuesday Thoughts

I know I know…I promised you a new blog design WEEKS ago.  Looks like there are a few more glitches to iron out and Chris (that’s my husband) has been really busy at work so we must wait.  I know, how dare him?!

I have been soooo lazy lately.  I have a million things to blog about, like our debt diet, the importance of fathers in their children’s lives, health care, the new purse I got to review.  I am going to make a BIG effort to get all of these posts done this week.  Although I think I’ll save the purse review for when the new blog design is up because I am also going to be giving one away.  So look out for that post…because this purse…is AWESOME!

Do you have this problem?  Whenever I put on mascara whichever eye I do second never turns out as good as the first.  Doesn’t matter which eye I start with.  It is a daily irritation.  I’ve even considered spacing them out like one eye now, the other an hour from now.  It’s sickening really.  Please tell me I’m not the only one.

When I was a little girl I always thought it was funny the way my grandparents called each other “Mom” and “Dad”.  Especially since their kids were long grown and out of the house.  I always swore I would never engage in such strange behavior.  Then out of no where I become a mom and my husband and I start calling each other “MOM” and “DAD”!  What the heck is that all about?  I can’t even stop it, like there is some cosmic force overpowering me.  I am determined it is genetic and must skip a generation because I’ve never heard my parents to refer to each other that way.

Well…it’s official, I start graduate school in one week!  I’ve been a full time mom for almost a year now and I am just now finally starting school (which was the plan from the beginning).  I can’t wait.  I’ll be going to ASU and getting a Masters of Education in Higher and Post Secondary Education.  Try saying that in one breath!  Basically I’ll be able to work in a college or university as an academic advisor or something of that nature.  Which I’m super stoked about because I love telling people what to do advising people. :-)

Did you hear about this hotel in San Diego that is offering a “Survivor” rate of $19 a night?  The rooms are normally over $200 a night!  Basically you are camping out in a hotel room with no bed, a/c, toiletries, or lights.  But it’s way better than real camping because you have a toilet, a shower, shelter, and you’re like in SAN DIEGO!  With access to the hotels pools and restaurants too.  I am dying over the fact that there is no way we can do this right now because of the debt diet.  So please somebody take advantage of this and then tell me about it so I can live through you. Pretty please?

From the Brooklyn Bridge. I don’t think you can take a bad picture from this bridge.

Okay I have my screen saver on my computer set to show all of my pictures. Today I noticed some pictures of New York that looked really nice and I had to do a double take to see if they were the ones I took on our trip a few years back. I had never seen them in black and white before and I thought they looked pretty good which is suprising since my pictures usually suck
Here are a few from the Brooklyn bridge…

How much do you want to pay in taxes?

There’s been a lot of talk lately from the McCain campaign that Obama is going to “Raise your taxes” and “spread the wealth around”. He has even called it another form of welfare.
Now, I don’t care who you vote for (okay that’s a lie because I really want to see a good President in office.) But if you are going to vote for McCain I just want your reasons to be based on facts and not lies or misrepresentation.
McCain may call taking money from the wealthy and giving it to the poor welfare but how is his welfare any different? McCain will take money from the poor and give it to the rich, that is called corporate welfare. It has been going on for a long time in this country, too long. It’s time we get a president that is going to do something about it.
I also wanted to share that I currently recieve e-mails from both Obama and McCain’s campaign. About 99% of the e-mails I get from Obama’s campaign are about OBAMA and what HE is going to do for this country. However, 99% of the e-mails I get from McCain are not about McCain and what he is going to do. I find that scary.
My point for writing this post is to share with you the Obama Tax calculator. All you do is put in your yearly income and it tells you how much money you will get back in taxes with Obama’s plan as compared to McCain’s.

Milwaukee Trip

100808 011 150x150 Milwaukee TripThis was my first time to Milwaukee and we had a lot of fun.  It was great to catch up with my friend Michele and stay in her wonderful apartment just outside of the city.  This is the view from her balcony.  Lot’s of beautiful trees, not something you see in Arizona.

She lives in West Allis which is known for it’s many bars.  The funny thing is they all look like this one and there is about 2 on every corner as well as a few in between.  Something I learned about Milwaukeans, they like to drink!  Especially beer!

We did all of the traditional Wisconsin things like eat hot ham and rolls, frozen custard, and cheese curds.

I was suprised at what a big city Milwaukee was.  Lake Michigan was beautiful and the homes were gorgeous!  I didn’t take too many pictures of the homes but here is a really interesting one.  It is nicknamed the witches house but it is actually just a very creative lady who lived here (and died recently)  she was an artist and did all these really interesting pieces outside of her home. 100708 008 150x150 Milwaukee Trip

I discovered that Milwaukee was a much bigger city than I thought it was and that I would love to live there (in the summer).  Thanks Michelle, we had a lot of fun.  I can’t close this post without posting a picture of Michelle’s adorable fat cat, aply named Tinkerbell. Eva was in love!
