I hate to say it, but the Haitian people are pretty much screwed. I also know I sound heartless, but their political system has made that half of the island completely subject to every disaster imaginable. An eartquake like that would be a disaster anywhere. But, when services suck so badly because of political corruption and mismanagement, the problems are compounded, the suffering unimaginably worse. I feel sad for the people, but their government will squander and hoard any relief the rest of the world sends. I say it should be a direct military relief effort by the USA and others. No money, just direct assistance.
