Woo Hoo. Hey You, Ya You, Over There!

Eva has started this new super cute thing, because you know everything your own kid does is super cute and when a different kid does the exact same thing it’s just annoying, anyways she does this thing where if she is trying to get my attention she waves her arms at me and says “WooHoo!”.  My face is beaming with pride just telling you about it that’s how darn cute it is.  But I realize she’s not your kid so you probably find it annoying.  Oh well, you’re just jealous.

The title of this post was inspired by my dear Eva because lately I feel like I have became that person, that parent who just isn’t all there.  You know what I mean?  Maybe it’s school, maybe it’s my health, maybe it’s this debt diet, maybe it’s the holidays just around the corner, or maybe it’s motherhood finally infecting my brain.  Wow, that’s a lot of maybes.  Maybe it is all the maybes?  Ha!

School is great, but the only thing is that every since I have started back I have not worked out, once.  Not once have I gone to the gym, gone for a run, done yoga, or popped in Jillian Michaels DVD.  I think it is starting to affect my health.  I just don’t have the energy I used to have, I’m not taking care of Eva the way I used to (she ate candy corn for breakfast for goodness sake!), and this week I got infected with some sort of upper-respiratory nastiness.  Which is why my 2 year old now knows how to hack a lugi.  You’re Welcome.

The debt diet is getting stressful.  The stores have already been flooded with Christmas presents and I feel like if I don’t buy them all now they will sell out and I won’t be able to get them later.  Ridiculous, I know.  Plus it’s like, FALL.  And there is all this wonderful fally stuff to do around here.  But it gets expensive.  There are high school football games, elementary school festivals, apple picking, pumpkin farms, long drives that require lot’s of gas, and Cracker Barrel because you need to eat after watching the football game, going to the festival, picking apples, carving pumpkins and taking that long drive you know?

The Holidays could very well be to blame for the clouding of my mind.  I have soooo been looking forward to this Christmas ever since last Christmas.  Eva will be older and more into it.  She already knows half the Christmas songs.  I am beyond excited for Halloween, trick or treating, and hanging out with family and friends, eating lots of candy, dressing Eva up for what may be the last year I have the final say on her Halloween costume.  The Holidays are just so much fun when you are a parent!  100 times funner even then when you are a kid.  It must be that whole “It’s better to give then to receive thing” or something.

So, I apologize if I just haven’t “been there” as much as I used to be.  Just wave your arms at me and yell “WooHoo!” every once in a while.   Even if I don’t answer you I’ll still laugh at you and tell you how cute you are.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Did you know that when you’re out on the road and have a question, like say “where am I?”, you can send a text message to 242242 which apparently spells “chacha”, according to my niece.  So you just  send a text to that number and you just ask your question.  You can ask anything you want and just phrase it like a normal question because it will be sent to an actual person that will then look up the info. for you and text you the answer.

Yesterday I was driving around Tucson, lost, and I texted how to get to the University of Arizona from the cross-streets I was at.  It took 7 minutes to get my answer which is longer than if I had GPS on my phone but I still think it is very cool and helpful.  It is a completely free service because they send you ads in between sending you the answer.  I only got 1 ad and after my answer I didn’t get any more ads.

Here’s the website if you want more information

And again….they are not paying me or giving me anything….I just think it’s really cool.

For the most part I really enjoy living in Arizona.  Of course my number one choice would be to move back to Southern California but it’s not happening until we can at least sell our house.  But Arizona is definitely my second choice.  Some of the drawbacks include 1.) 115 degree heat  2.) the Rednecks and 3.) the lack of Diversity.  The biggest drawback by far though is my extreme fear of scorpions and the fact that they live in abundance here.  Thankfully in the four and a half years that we have lived here I have not seen one, ever, that is….until today.  Not only did I see a SCORPION today but it was IN MY HOUSE!  Yep that’s right, in my very own place of refuge there it was, the satanic looking creature.  I went to put my shoes on in the laundry room when out of the corner of my eye I saw something scurry from beneath one of them.  I thought it was a baby lizard but wasn’t sure so I very carefully turned over the other shoe that the demon thing had run under and there out it ran, making his escape across the desert colored tile on my laundry room floor.  I quickly grabbed my husbands huge ass shoe and smacked the crap out of that thing until it lay a still, flat, mess.  Then I screamed, and screamed, and screamed some more all the while staring at it for fear it might come back from the dead and crawl up my leg {shudder}.  Finally my showering husband came running, soaking wet, in his towel to see what the emergency was.  Then, he kept watch while I grabbed the bug spray and dowsed it for good measure.

Here is a picture of the little creep resting peacefully.

These freaks of nature have caused me so much anxiety in the past and I have had many sleepless nights because of them.  All it takes is to hear about someone being stung in their own home for me to shake the sheets out ten times before getting in bed and then jumping out and doing it all over again every time I have the slightest bit of nerve sensation.  My husband LOVES this by the way.  Poor guy I don’t think he’s getting any sleep anytime soon after today’s shenanigans.

I’m reading this book for one of my classes called “The World is Flat” by Thomas Friedman.  I won’t get into too much about what the book is about except to to say that globalization has leveled the playing field among countries so that the world is now indeed flat instead of round like we once thought it was.

What I wanted to share with you are all the amazing abilities of Google that I never knew about before!

1. Want to know what’s for dinner, just google three ingredients in your fridge and see what pops up.

2.  Go here to see pretty much every service under the sun that Google offers.

3. Did you know you can translate something whether it be a simple phrase, a whole document, or an entire webpage?

4.  If you download the Google toolbar you can add what services you are most interested in like a translator button that also allows you to just hover your mouse over any word on a web-page and it will translate the word for you right there.  My favorites are the dictionary, facebook feed, and Craigslist button.

5. Oh ya and let’s not forget about Google scholar where you can view entire books right there on your internet browser.  Go ahead and try it, go to google scholar type in a book or an article title and see if it comes up.  They’re not all there yet but I hear it’s just a matter of time.  I tried it with The Five Love Languages and there it was!

How long has this been going on for?  Have I really been sleeping through it, am I the only clueless one left or what?  When did Google become my very own FREE personal assistant?

I swear I am not getting anything from Google for writing this, I just think it is really awesome.

In one of my mommy tips from a while ago I wrote about having an impromptu picnic with your little one.  That is exactly what we did today.  Of course I am beyond blessed to have a huge park right outside my front door.  So we grabbed a blanket, some snacks, and a camera.
