Fantastical Friday – Eva is Joining the Circus

Okay obviously I’m just kidding but seriously after last night I think she would in a heartbeat.  This was my first time ever going to the Circus and it was AMAZING.  Eva was enthralled throughout the entire show.  It had all of her favorite things: beautiful Horses, Zebras, Elephants, Tigers, fun music, dancers, and acrobats.  The entire thing was just filled with excitement.  I don’t think she blinked once.

I would have to say her favorite part was probably the Elephants.  The whole way there she kept saying she wanted to see Dumbo.   She was not disappointed.

My favorite part was the human cannonball duo.  Amazing to be able to fly through the air like that.  Just amazing.

This might sound silly but something about Circus performers has just always fascinated me.  I sat there wondering what each of there stories where.  Did they grow up in the circus?  Did they from a long line of clowns, animal trainers, and acrobats?  I was so interested to read their bios in the program and to learn that many of them are from other countries.  That just made them even more cooler.  I started imagining joining the circus and touring Europe.

The Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Zing Zang Zoom Circus is in Phoenix until 06/28 this Sunday.  If you can go I highly highly highly recommend that you do.   Really, especially if you have young kids.  Eva had so much fun I almost want to go again this weekend.

You can get your Tickets at TicketMaster.

Saturday June 27th 11:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m., 7:00p.m.

Sunday June 28th 1:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m.

On a more somber note.  RIP Michael Jackson.  His music was a part of my childhood and so many others for the past 40 years.  I know there is a lot to be wondered about in how he led his life but he was a musical genius and well there have been many geniuses who have lead strange lives.

randomtuesday Random Tuesday Thoughts – Twilight

twilightcover thumb Random Tuesday Thoughts – Twilight Is there a support group for Twilight Random Tuesday Thoughts – Twilight addicts?  If such a condition exists I think I have it.  I first watched the movie a month or two ago and was surprised that I liked it as much as I did.  I get lost in the scenery.  Maybe because it is such a stark contrast to hot, flat, tree barren Phoenix but I am mesmerized by the green trees, moss, wet ground, and cold air.  I’ve watched the movie at least a dozen times so far, if it wasn’t for my husband that number would be higher.  After enjoying the movie so much I read the first book which took me less then 24 hours.  Then I immediately ran to the library and got the second.  It took me about 2 days to finish that one….I paced myself a little bit more.  After that I had to wait an excruciating 7 days before the third book was available at the library.  I’m glad I was forced to wait though…it prolonged the excitement for me.  The anticipation of the drug is better then the actual experience of getting high.  That’s what I learned working with drug addicts anyway.  See what I mean?  Support group is badly needed.

I just can’t stop thinking about these characters.  After I finish one book and am waiting for the other I find myself going back and re-reading certain parts.  It’s intoxicating and a little bit disturbing.  I’ve never been so obsessed about a book before.  Everything about this series, the movie, and the author intrigues me.   Do you know how she came up these characters?  She had a dream!  It just blows my mind that all of this, the success of these books, and the movie has been the product of a dream.  She wasn’t even actively writing at the time or wishing to write a book.  It just came to her.  Of course there had to have been a lot of hard work on her part and not to mention talent.  She does a wonderful job building the characters up in your head. Yes, sometimes they are annoyingly sappy but it doesn’t make it any easier to put down the books.  I just can’t stop reading about them.

I just got an e-mail that the fourth book is ready at my library.  I’ll be comatose for the next day or two.

I guess this doesn’t really qualify as a random thoughts post so to get your fill head over to Keely’s blog The UnMom.

Fantastical Friday – Happy Daddy’s Day

What would a Modern Mommy do without a Modern Daddy?  I know I could not live without Eva’s Daddy aka my husband Chris.

  • He set up this sight for me and maintains it.
  • He comes home every night from a long day of work and for the most part takes care of Eva the whole night.  Usually even giving her a bath and getting her ready for bed.
  • On top of that he cleans up after dinner every night.
  • I’ve never had to touch a lawn mower or weed whacker in my life because he does all of it.
  • He humors me as a I order him around outside telling him what shrub to cut and what not to cut while a lay back on a chair and get some sun .
  • He takes Eva somewhere when I need a break.
  • He loves our daughter and would do anything for her.
  • He loves me and would do anything for me.
  • He has an incredible sense of duty for his family and is a great provider.
  • There are many more reasons why I love this man and could not live without him but I can’t list them all here.

We love you honey, happy early Father’s Day!

Did you hear that at Old Navy this Saturday you can get tank tops for $2 a piece?!

How do crumbs find there way into my silverware drawer and cupboards when there is no food near them?

I watched MILK finally last week.  DH and I were silent throughout the whole movie which is rare.  I came up with a new slogan “Guns don’t kill people, HATE kills people.”  Wouldn’t that be great for an anti-hate website?

We have ALIENS in our house.  At least I think that’s what the baby monitor is trying to tell me.  Remember in the movie “Signs” they could hear the aliens through the monitor?

Kabobs are the worlds most perfect meal.  I am obsessed with making them.  Last night I put chicken breast, mushrooms, onions, red pepper, and pineapple on skewers.  I smothered them with a mixture of olive oil, lemon juice, paprika, salt, garlic powder, and white pepper.  I found the recipe for the mixture this past weekend when I was making lobster tails and it was so delicious I decided I could probably put it on anything I grill.  I was right, it was fabulous on the kabobs.  It is just one of the easiest and tastiest meals ever.  I make some rice to go with them and viola a perfectly balanced meal.  Chris likes them because they are easy to clean up after. :-)

Is it rude to respond to a voicemail with a text message?  Sometimes I am tempted to but then I just end up calling because I’m not sure if the person would get offended.  What do you think?

What I love most about having company over is it forces me to clean my house

I finished reading New Moon in two days.  Yes there was a little bit of that ooey gooey teenage mushy romance that made me want to vomit but really not very much.  I can’t wait for the movie.  I am so addicted to these characters.  I haven’t read a book like that in a long time so it was kind of nice to be able to escape into something that way.

Eva’s favorite book right now is Goodnight Gorilla.  It is the perfect book for her age.  Not very many words but a lot going on in the pictures.  It gives us a lot to talk about and she can tell me what is going on in the story.  She loves the page with just the two surprised eyes in the dark room.  She makes me read those last few pages over and over and over again.

I love saving money!  Ever since we started our Debt Diet I have been a coupon cutter.  Never have paid much attention to ads or coupons before but now that I have more time to do it I love it.  So far this year I have spent $162 at CVS and saved $201!  Everything I buy is something that I genuinely need, I don’t just buy stuff because it is on sale.  Today I went to Albertsons my final bill was $60 and I saved $58.  I cut my bill in half!  I know there are ways to save even more than that but I am still learning.

I do buy the paper and get coupons that way but I find my best coupons come from registering on product websites.  It’s true I get a million E-mails a day but it’s worth it if it means I am saving more money.
