I had the misfortune of seeing this movie last night thanks to a free advanced screening I was invited to.  I’ve been so caught up in saving money and getting things for free that I blindly jumped at the chance to have a much needed long overdue date night with my husband.

From the description of the movie and the fact that Gerard Butler had the leading role I thought it would be a movie that DH would like and something that I wouldn’t at least hate.

Well, we both hated it.  It was basically a bunch of action, things blowing up, people killing each other, ridiculous depictions of the future in technology, and pornography, with a little bit of dialogue and plot (if that’s what you can call it) mixed in there.

It was actually quite disturbing to watch and to think that some people actually enjoy this kind of stuff.  I don’t know if they will have to take out some of the gore and porn when it is released but to think that anyone enjoys watching people being blown up and body parts splattered everywhere is a mystery to me.

My advice is don’t see it, don’t let your children see it, don’t let your spouse see it, or even your friends.  Just don’t see it.

What a randomly bizarre movie for you to see! Isn’t it nuts what we’ll do just because, “it’s free?”

I’ve never even heard of Gerard Butler. I read the preview you linked to and the entire premise sounded like a plot for Tropic Thunder II.

I’ll be sure to tell Joe it’s a bomb should he suggest we see it. :)

I also saw Game free in an advanced preview, and I got a completely different opinion of it. Yes, a bit too much action etc., but it was a strong warning about the way we are going with so much high technology. It certain isn’t for children or early teens. But how many of today’s movies are? But it certainly isn’t anything like Tropic thunder. Nothing funny about it. Tropic was basically a slap at all the stupidity in Hollywood.

Gerard Butler has made close to two dozen movies, some good, some fair, but his performance has always been great. For kids he’s done “Nim’s Island”, for music lovers he did “Phantom of the Opera”, for history buffs and fans of graphic novels there is “300″, for general audiences there is “P.S. I Love You”, and NO it is not a chic flick. For a beautiful little movie for everyone, try “Dear Frankie”, For sci-fi people there is “Timeline”. For action lovers, how about “Laura Croft: The Cradle of Life”?
Coming out besides “Game” you find “The Ugly Truth” which IS a chic flick with a lot of comedy built in, and next year “Law Abiding Citizen” plus several others in the works.
But for fans of sci-fi and futuristic movies, “Game” is the one that many of you will like. Some won’t, of course. But when I hate a movie, I say so, but never discourage anyone but tell them to see it and make up their own minds. The one I hate most in recent years? “No Country for Old Men.’ Horrible, terribly, should never have been made. But if you didn’t see it, go check it out for yourself. Ya might love it.

    Thanks for stopping by.
I actually didn’t like “No Country for Old Men” either but like you said I don’t usually tell people not to see a movie just because I didn’t like it. I am telling people not to see this movie because it is disturbing and nobody should see this mixture of sex and violence together as it is in this movie. Of course I can’t stop anyone from seeing it but if I can prevent just one teenagers mom from letting them go and see this movie then I will be happy.
Sorry but I have to disagree that it is a warning about how far we are going with technology. I didn’t see anything realistic about this movie as far as technology goes.
