I think I was 9 when I wanted to be and I have grown up a lot since then. There is no way I would want to deal with the economy and Israel and Iraq. It gives me hives. Although I also wanted to be a writer. My son even told me recently that I should just do it. My writing is ok (yes, the reason I started my blog also), but I don't think I will ever actually write a book. :-) Good luck to you on that one. That ideas wasn't encouraged because I was told "writers don't make real money and isn't a real job." OK...who needs a "real job" anyway?!
