My husband bought me Randy Pausch’s book “The last Lecture.” I was so moved by his story and have really been  getting a lot out of his book. The main focus is  basically about how he was able to live out some of  his childhood dreams. Naturally it got me thinking about what my dreams were as a child. This is the list I came up with so far.

  1. Be WonderWoman
  2. Learn to play the piano (and be good at it)
  3. Be Anne of Green Gables long lost cousin so I could visit her in beautiful  Novia Scotia
  4. Help suffering children
  5. Own a horse
  6. Be a “super mom”
  7. Save the world

I have only semi-realized one of these dreams, number 4.  I went to school so that I could work with disadvantaged kids and enjoyed working in that field for over 4 years (until I became a full-time mom).

I don’t think I have reached “super-mom” status yet.  Talk to me in another 6 years when I have more children and am carting them off to soccer practice, spanish and piano lessons, and holding a full time job while going to school for my PHD. ;-)

No, seriously, I hope to accomplish a few more things on that list at some point in my life.  I plan to make a mind movie to help motivate me along the way.

So…what were your childhood dreams?  Have you accomplished them?  I would love to know!

One of my biggest childhood dreams has been to publish a book (non-fiction). That ideas wasn’t encouraged because I was told “writers don’t make real money and isn’t a real job.” OK…who needs a “real job” anyway?! But, being an honest-to-God author has been a lingering dream that is slowly starting to come into fruition.

    1. Veteranarian
    2. Pediatrician
    3. President of the US
    4. Playgirl photographer
    5. Playboy model
    6. Have 4 kids

Hmmmm, I’ve accomplished none of those, but I’m ok with that. :-)

Good luck on your dreams, I hope you accomplish those that you still want to. Do you still want to own a horse and be Anne’s cousin?

Lovely goals. Don’t give up on number 3 just yet, we still need a female president!
I don’t want to own a horse any more but I do wish I could ride more. Nope I don’t want to be Anne’s cousin anymore but it is still a dream of mine to visit Novia Scotia.

That is actually one dream that I had forgotton about until you mentioned it. I always wanted to be a writer but just never thought I was very good at it. Part of the reason I am doing this blog actually is to improve my writing skills, so that maybe one day…?
I really hope you see this dream come true. :-)

    Ohh sweety…I love you.

Hon, there is not enough money in the entire world to make me want to be President anymore. I think I was 9 when I wanted to be and I have grown up a lot since then. There is no way I would want to deal with the economy and Israel and Iraq. It gives me hives.

Although I also wanted to be a writer. My son even told me recently that I should just do it. My writing is ok (yes, the reason I started my blog also), but I don’t think I will ever actually write a book. :-) Good luck to you on that one.
