A mess to clean up

WHY did I let her play in the bathroom???
Because it was keeping her busy that’s why.
Because it gave me five minutes to clean the kitchen.
Well now the trash is dumped out and the toilet is clogged.
I won’t make that mistake again.

Oh Wow…

The only thing I’m afraid of is people like this…

This would probably be a good post to tell you about the lovely lady I met on the plane a couple of weeks ago. I sat next to a very nice elderly couple who were very helpful and friendly. They played with Eva, gave me free parenting and marriage advice, talked about their family and how they just celebrated 47 years of marriage. We were having a nice little visit when all of a sudden the woman asks me what I think about Sarah Palin. Me, trying to be overly-polite, respond that I like her as a person but not as a vice president. She then starts in on how Sarah Palin is the greatest woman that ever lived and that Barrack Obama is no good. I immediately inform her that I am “a big Obama supporter.” This doesn’t stop her, she adds that he is Muslim and a terrorist and that “this country was formed on christian values” and that Muslim values just don’t jive with that.

How do you let go?

018cropped 300x273 How do you let go?This concept of trusting a perfect stranger to watch my daughter even if just for an hour is one I am really struggling with.
There are two areas were we run into this, at church and at the gym.
Both are things that I really want and need to do to nurture myself. I believe that to be spiritually and physically balanced are very important to being a good mother.
I just can’t get over the fact that when I walk into both of these places these people who I know nothing about are going to be watching my daughter. It doesn’t help that Eva screams and hangs onto me for dear life when I leave her. In both places the general belief of the workers is that if I just leave she will be fine in 1 minute. However it is my belief that you don’t leave a child that is clinging to you.

Children are the future…will it be good or bad?

“Each of us must come to care about everyone else’s children. We must recognize that the well being of our own children is intimately linked to the well being of all other people’s children. After all, when one of our children needs life-saving surgery, someone else’s child will perform it. When one of our children is harmed by violence, someone else’s child will commit it. The good life for our own children can be secured only if it is also secured for all other people’s children. But to work for the well being of all children is not just a practical matter– it is also right!” – Lilian G. Katz, Phd.

I love this quote. To me when I hear people say “why should I have to take care of other people’s children?” I think to myself, ~Because those other people’s children, are YOUR children’s future!~

Baby Doll might say “Islam is the light”

You can listen to the doll here.

I heard about this a few days ago by my Aunt and figured it was probably just some crazy people trying to make drama.  I just watched the video and it does sound like the doll says “Islam is the light”.  I am not offended by it but apparently some people are.  There have been many instances of toy makers trying to be funny and have a doll say something it wasn’t supposed to, most of the time people do not even pick up on it.  I guess that gives these geeky toy makers a good laugh. (Sorry to offend you if you happend to be a toy maker.)

I was offended however by the telatubby doll that says “faggot, faggot, bite my butt.”

I’ve always heard rumors of sexual phrases and pictures that are put into Disney movies by art geeks. So it is not an uncommon practice. You can read more about that here.
