How much do you want to pay in taxes?

There’s been a lot of talk lately from the McCain campaign that Obama is going to “Raise your taxes” and “spread the wealth around”. He has even called it another form of welfare.
Now, I don’t care who you vote for (okay that’s a lie because I really want to see a good President in office.) But if you are going to vote for McCain I just want your reasons to be based on facts and not lies or misrepresentation.
McCain may call taking money from the wealthy and giving it to the poor welfare but how is his welfare any different? McCain will take money from the poor and give it to the rich, that is called corporate welfare. It has been going on for a long time in this country, too long. It’s time we get a president that is going to do something about it.
I also wanted to share that I currently recieve e-mails from both Obama and McCain’s campaign. About 99% of the e-mails I get from Obama’s campaign are about OBAMA and what HE is going to do for this country. However, 99% of the e-mails I get from McCain are not about McCain and what he is going to do. I find that scary.
My point for writing this post is to share with you the Obama Tax calculator. All you do is put in your yearly income and it tells you how much money you will get back in taxes with Obama’s plan as compared to McCain’s.

Witnessing a Miracle

2858685245 4e2dc63efb 300x199 Witnessing a MiracleThere is no other miracle in the world like the birth of a baby. I have always loved watching “a baby story” even though I get queasy when the baby is born and have to cover my eyes for a bit I still watch because it is so amazing to see that little human being handed to their mother for the first time. There is something so magical about it. I was watching one today and the dad had passed away during the mother’s pregnancy. I started watching half way through so I don’t know how he died but he was in the military. It was such a beautiful thing to experience. Even though the mother was full of pain and grief, that baby brought her so much joy and love. When he was born she kept saying “I want to see him, I want to see him.” She said he looked just like his dad.
Of course I cry every time I witness the birth of a child. Who doesn’t? I wish I could have been there the day my daughter was born. I wonder…what were her first moments in this world like? Did her birth mother hold her? Was she alone or did she have family to be there? There is no way of knowing and that breaks my heart. Hopefully one day we will meet and I will get to ask all my questions. There are so many.

A lot of fun for a little Money

Now that I am staying home with my daughter I have a lot more time to do fun things with her but not a lot of money to do them with. Here are some things I have found that do not cost a ton.

1. The park – living where I do it is very family oriented and there are a lot of cool parks, many of which I have yet to discover.

2. Story time at either the library or Barnes and Noble. I love books and want to instill that love in her too. My downfall could be that I can not walk into a childrens book section and not want to buy everything I see!

3. Lunch with daddy. There are many inexpensive places we can go, but if money is really tight I can bring lunch and we can have a picnic.

4. The zoo – we have an annual pass which wasn’t too expensive. Usually we will only go for a few hours in the morning and the most I will spend is about $10. $3 for the carousel and the rest for snacks and drinks.

5. Play area at the mall. Eva love’s going to the mall and playing in the little area they have there. She also LOVES going into the Disney store so that can be dangerous for my wallet.

6. Play date at a friends house. Cost = $0 Time for mommy to chit chat with an adult = Priceless.
