Okay, I know, abortion is a hot topic and I don’t really want to get into all that here. I just want to talk about my reasons for refusing to vote for someone based on their views on abortion.

  1. Abortion is legal. The supreme court ruled that it is legal and that is what it has been for over 30 years. No matter what my beliefs on the issue are, in our law books, it is legal.
  2. No president since Roe V. Wade has been able to make abortion illegal.

  3. Both parties have turned it into a game to garner more votes. If you are pro-life you must vote for a Republican, and if you are pro-choice you have to vote for the Democrat. They have essential narrowed every election down to this ONE issue. I refuse to play that game.

There was a time where I based all my voting decisions on what the candidate’s stance on abortion was. Well, that got me nowhere. So, this time I am voting based on the million other issues that matter. Like our national security, emergency preparedness and aide, health care, our collapsing economy, and education.

My husband and I were just talking about this. I have to admit I haven’t followed everything and didn’t realize that the focus was on abortion so much. I hate abortion and am sad that it’s legal, but I can’t see that changing no matter who I vote for.

Thanks for the comment on my blog, by the way. :-)

Abortion is an important issue and it tells me a lot about a persons morals and values. God has blessed Our Nation. He will continue to do so if we who are called by his name will hummble ourselves and pray. Pray for the rights of all peole but especially the innocents slottered by abortion. I support a place called “Birth Choice” and they are making a difference by supporting moms who keep their babies and in most cases choose adoption. Birth Choice gets no federal assistance. That could be changed by a moral president. The next president will choose three new Supreme Court Justisces and that could over turn Roe vs. Wade. I for one never dreamed the Berlin Wall would fall but it did beacuse of President Regan and God’s help. All thing are possible to those who have faith. No matter who the next president happens to be my God hold me accoutable to vote my values. That’s the way I see it.

My husband and I were discussing the election and both had the same epiphany…there are bigger fish to fry at the moment. We need to find a leader that can make great decisions based on broader issues that affect each and every one of us and our children and grandchildren.

I agree with Nancy, who said it eloquently. It’s not so much that the new President is going to hop on this issue right away. I am sure Christians/people with morals would like this to be changed easily. But there are people who will make sure that doesn’t happen. It’s the fact that what people beleive is a small window into their souls. If it were legal to kill anybody up to the age of 5? Would this be tolerated. We just haven’t gotten angry enough. I can’t drop everything and go picket the White House or wherever, but I can cast a vote. My vote will be cast for these other issues as well.

I respect everyone’s opinions on this subject because I believe we are all speaking from our own life experiences. I do not believe however that someone who is pro-choice is amoral or doesn’t have morals and values. I believe that in their heart they do not view a fetus under a certain age to be a baby. Just becuase I disagree with that definition does not mean that I have morals and the other person does not.
    Thanks again for the coments!
