My title is a little bit sarcastic today.  This is more me just venting.  Toddlers are an interesting dichotomy of opposites.  They can be cute and loving one minute and obnoxious and defiant the next.  Evangeline has just recently entered the testing stage and man can she test mommy’s patience.  On a typical day she will wake up sweet and loving, just full of smiles and hugs and kisses.  She is easy and agreeable.  I say, “do you want milk?” and she nods happily and is content.  A few hours later she is demanding, and cries and screams if I get up to do anything.  Throw’s a tantrum if she can’t have something she wants.  Is defiant. This morning she threw her milk on the floor when she was done eating (her daily ritual).  When she got down I asked her to pick it up and put it on the table, which she normally does just fine.  Nope not today she sat there and stared at it and didn’t move.

I am just sitting here this morning thinking… “how long does this time last for?”  She is only 18 months old, do I really have another 12-18 months of this?  When she is being cute and adorable I find myself loving this age and never wanting it to end.  But 2 seconds later she is throwing a tantrum and I am wondering, “when will it end?”

Just found a link to your blog and began reading. I love it! I know its just you writing your daily experiences as a mom… but being a mommy to a 16 month old boy… I can relate. Especially with this one about “terrific toddlers”.. So many personalities in such little bodies. Can’t wait for more posts!

My 17 month is doing the same thing as Evangelina. My favorite is when you tell him to pick up the cup or come over here for some reason he turns around and says “No”.
Other days he is loving, sweet, esay going, and like you I wish they can stay this age forever. Like Evangelina he dosen’t want his diaper changed cause it is stopping him from making a mess or torturing the dogs. Everyday is a new adventage for us. Not knowing what cute little thing he does or is going to say. I will tell you guys one thing through. I was on vactation at my families a couple of weeks ago and I said OH! S—! Not thinking anything of it. Well, we get home and little man drops his cup on the floor and as clear as day. You guessed it OH! S— came out of his month. Of course daddy right away looked at me and we both had to remove ourselves from the room to laugh to and then just proceed with the day. He hasn’t said it since or at least not when I am around. But, I now watch everything I do say cause he picks things up fast. I can relate to alot of issues with Jill.

Very funny Amie, Eva has started saying something similar when she is playing. I swear it is “Oh shoot” but it sounds an awful like the other word. :-)
I really have no idea where she would have gotten that from!
